On this Morocco Imperial Cities Tour, let’s pick you up from the airport or the port of Tangier and departure to Chefchaouen, a town founded as a mysterious secret place from which to attack Occupiers on the north coast of Portugal. It was completely banned from entering the village to Europeans until the arrival of the Spanish troops in 1920. We’ll arrive to Chefchaouen in the afternoon to have a first contact with the city. Overnight at hotel.
After breakfast we will tour in Chefchaouen, a holy city in the Rif mountain, situated in a nature background of the biosphere. Its medina streets are painted in white and blue with kind and friendly people. They offer visitors lovely and valuable local crafts that are hard to find nowadays. You’ll explore Chefchaouen’s medina and the Plaza Uta El Hammam and it’s well known Kasbah. Overnight at lodging with dinner and breakfast.
We proceed with our excursion to Fes, Imperial City, dating back to the 8thcentury. In addition it is one of the sacred cities of Muslim worship in Morocco and it’s proud to have one of the oldest universities in the world. In the afternoon free time to relax or explore the city that will take you back in time.
After breakfast, you’ll take an escorted tour with our local guide in the most important spots in the ancient Medina of Fes. After entering the narrow alleys of the medina (old city) you’ll feel that time came back hundred years ago: the structure of the buildings is still in work and its narrow streets don’t allow any other methods of transportation but donkeys and a constant swarm of people moving through the labyrinthine alleys which neighborhoods dates back to the Andalusians period and superb mosques and Koranic schools. Fes has always been related to the study of religion and remains the spiritual capital of Morocco. Overnight at the hotel/riad.
After breakfast, we will head west to get to Volubilis, the old Roman city and the most important archeological site in Morocco. Free time to visit the area of Volubilis with the ability to take a tour with a local guide to have more information about this essential ruins. After touring this amazing Roman ruins we’ll head to Moulay Idris, the most important pilgrimage town in Morocco. It is a small area where you can discover its medina in less than an hour. The third and the final stop is Meknes, the “humble” the forth imperial city of Morocco. In Meknes you will have free time to take lunch and visit its most important landmarks, then roam in its souk or taste delicious coffee in the square. Supper and overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, we depart to Asilah via Rabat. You’ll visit the capital of Morocco (Rabat)and explore the Royal Palace, Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, the Kasbah Oudaya, and so on. In the afternoon we proceed to the city of Asilah, where you can wander in its lovely white medina.
After breakfast, we transfer you to the airport or port. End of service.
